Nature

We are referring to a blessed country, to whom God has given a lot of beauties; a country with mountains, hills and plains; a country bathed in the South by the waters of an old and magic river - the Danube - on a distance of 1.075 kilometers - and tenderly caressed, in the South-East, by the waves of the Black Sea.

Romania’s relief has the form of an amphitheater, the chain of the Carpathians becoming an embracing entity, through its three branches (Eastern, Middle and the Western Carpathians) for the Plateau of Transilvania. They are closely followed by the under Carpathian Hills, by some rich plains and of the splendid Danube Delta, which is mostly protected by law as a natural monument.

Romania is a country which glacial lakes, gorges, caves and waterfalls, a country full of mineral springs. If you happen to pass through the Gorges of Bicaz, you will never forget the beauty of the Carpathians. The Romanian Carpathians (Bucegi, Făgăraş, Ceahlău, Retezat, Apuseni- as few of the most important massives) are crossed over at every step by incredibly picturesque passes. The highest peaks are: Moldoveanu (2.544m) and Negoiu (2.535m), both from the Făgăraş massif, in the Meridionali. Here, you can find oaks, beeches, spruce firs or fir trees and also Carpathians brown bears, stags, wild boars, chamois, foxes or even some real populations of birds.

But, as many birds as in the Danube Delta, you cannot find anywhere…(almost 300 species); and it is here where you can find the biggest pelican colony in Europe. Of course that fishes couldn’t have missed from such a Heaven: pikes, sheats, carps or zanders, with reed, willows and water lilies.

The Black Sea, a sea with a low salinity, reminds us of the old Greeks who created on its shore citadels as Tomis, (that is the actual city of Constanta) or Callatis (nowadays, it is called Mangalia). Here, we can find more proves of the ancient civilizations: health resorts as Mamaia, Neptun, Eforie Nord, and some important symbols of Greek and Roman civilization (see the ruins of Histria and the mosaic of Constanta).

Thousands of tourists from all over the world come here, in the famous resorts as Mangalia, Neptun, Eforie Nord, for a watering or a reposing cure. The muds containing discomposed plants from Techirghiol Lake, or the Gerovital products of the famous personality Ana Aslan have made many people a little more healthy, no matter if they were Romanians or foreigners.

“If you would only know how beautiful my country is!…”, said once Nicolae Grigorescu, our biggest painter. We know he was right and we would like to convince you of that. So, come with us and see it for yourself!
